Making Strides

The American Cancer Society is looking for at least 5,000 Metro Atlanta adults who want to make a direct impact in the fight against cancer. In partnership with the YMCA, Atlanta, GA has been selected as one of a limited number of communities nationwide where people can enroll in the Cancer Prevention Study-3.

The goal of CPS-3 is to better understand the factors (lifestyle, environmental, genetic) that cause or prevent cancer and, ultimately, to help eliminate cancer as a major health concern for future generations.

The enrollment process involves two steps. One step takes place at a local enrollment event, where you will be asked to read and sign an informed consent form, complete a brief written survey, provide a waist circumference measurement and a small blood sample (similar to a doctor’s visit-7 teaspoons total). The blood sample will be taken by a certified, trained phlebotomist.

The other step takes place at home, participants will receive periodic follow-up surveys and research updates through annual newsletters.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed's has prepared a PSA for CPS-3 that we encourage you to share with your family, friends, co workers and place of worship. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVsD5PX8Jy4&feature=youtu.be

I'm in - what about you??

Thank you so much, I believe that we can all work together to eliminate cancer as a major health issue for future generations.

As always trying to bring you information that is current and able to help everyone.
