OK, I've heard people use this phrase and this my turn, I'm stepping out on Faith!
The other day while sitting here surfing, I saw a very creative item and thought I would give it a shot. Thinking about the fact that there are so many people that want to do more, want more for themselves and better overall health but encounter roadblocks. I won't use the word excuses because I don't know your story. I also know there are many people out there that need motivation to keep them on task and usually want that in the form of a partner. It's so much easier to fall off or not do something if there is no accountability. Believe me, I totally get it.
I train in an effort to prepare to walk those 60 miles just like any athlete would prior to a big event. Believe me, it is very much needed as I found out the hard way last year. I didn't train enough and I paid for it very painfully during the 3 Day event. I didn't take any pictures but that Friday night, I spent with both my knees wrapped in ice. The pain was very intense and I have a very high tolerance for pain. I spent Saturday walking slower and mostly by myself because of the minimal training. I can see where I was more of a detriment to myself because of it. This year, the plan is to stay on course with the training and to do as much of it when I can with or without company because I know in the end, I benefit the most.
Through my blog and conversations, I know there are others that wish they could walk with me. Yet, due to separation by distance, time, work schedule, inability and life in general they can't. I don't think you should put your health or wants to the back because of circumstance. I saw one of these elsewhere and thought I'd give it a try and share with you. if it works for you, I say go for it! In anything that we set out to do from our "want" list, the most difficult part is getting started. This is your chance to do that. Join me and Step out on Faith.
I've created a virtual walk. I know you're sitting there wondering what in the world....
It's a walk that you can do no matter where you are. You don't have to worry about what you look like, what to wear or where to go. You do it where you are in what ever you choose whenever you can. No pressure no rush, just complete it within the time frame and that is your start. You can then keep it going even though the walk itself may have ended.
I've set up a link on the page to the right, where you can register to join me and others doing this.
We want it to be fun, easy, stress free, but fun and manageable for everyone despite all the other things you have going on in your life.
I'm excited about it because we are all one anther's accountability partners. Through conversation, pictures and sharing posts we'll know when someone needs a lil boost to get them back on track if they fall off.
Your registration fee includes a tee of your size, wear it when you walk), a bib with your number, and a medal upon completion of your distance. In addition, there will be some prizes given during the time frame. I know you're excited about doing this but wait just a little longer. this virtual walk goes from July 1 - Aug. 1, 2013; so all tracking and posting has to be done and shared by you. This is totally the honor system because at the end of it all you are the one looking back at you to know that you achieved something that you didn't think you could and be proud of it. Let this be your stepping stone to other walks and items to get you moving!
